Asus Rog Strix Scar 15 review: A reliable and sustainable gaming laptop

Asus Rog Strix Scar 15 is a gaming-oriented laptop. It has many features that prove that it’s a great gaming laptop, such as its gaming performance, 300 HZ screen, excellent keyboard, and many customization options.

If you are looking for a gaming laptop, then Asus Rog Strix Scar 15 may prove a great choice. On Asus stores, the Rog Strix 15 starts at the price of $2,199.99.

The base model of Rog Strix 15 comes with many features such as a Core i7-10875H, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, 1GB of SSD storage, and a 240Hz screen.

Today we’re looking at a model that is a significant step up from that.

What does Asus Rog Strix Scar 15 have in-store?

This laptop’s costs are $2,799.99, and this is powered by Intel’s eight-core Core i9-10980HK and an RTX 2070 Super, which are joined by 32GB of RAM, a 1920 x 1080 300Hz screen with 3ms response time, and 2Tb storage.

The 10980HK is one of the most powerful mobile chips in the market, and on a 15-inch laptop, 300Hz is the fastest display you can get.

You can customize many features according to your requirements. On Customization, you can GO at maximum settings; the Strix Scar averaged 248fps.

On this Scars model’s 300Hz screen, the chips aren’t just offering 248fps. You can see a frame rate difference between this system and an identical one with a 240Hz display.

Overall it offers a relatively smooth experience.

Best pick at a reasonable price

All the titles will take full advantage of the 300Hz screen unless you make the quality settings down.

The Strix performs at 67fps on the Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s highest settings with ray tracing on Ultra.

On the Red Dead Redemption II game, it cranked up to Ultra; the Scar averaged 54fps. Both games perform smoothly, without any lag or slowdown. Those results beat the smaller Zephyrus G14 with a significant margin.

In the Turbo mode, the Scar performs at its highest power profile available with 10980HK. At this level, it gets quite hot throughout the gaming session.

Many times it gets heat up with these settings up to 99 degrees Celsius. When taking a glance at the regular performance profile, the CPU spends more time in the mid-high 80s, and there’s only a 1-2fps difference as a result.

So if you’re worried about the heating issue, you also have a look over the Performance profile.

In the overall consideration, suggesting this laptop is a serious attempt. For people who are into gaming and looking for an affordable price laptop, do look it.
