Coinbase has just dropped a major announcement for Australian cryptocurrency holders!
Users of the popular trading platform can now convert cryptocurrency into Uber credits. Coinbase says it’s instant, there are no withdrawal fees and you’ll receive a 2% bonus on conversion.
To make it happen, Coinbase has partnered with digital gift card company, WeGift.
So to convert crypto to Uber, users will need to authorise a ‘cashout’ from their selected Coinbase wallet at WeGift.io/coinbase.
Uber is Australia’s most popular ride-sharing application. In 2017 the company’s Australian operation posted a staggering $127m dollar profit.
Along with Uber, cryptocurrencies held in a Coinbase wallet can also be converted to WeGift cards for retailers including Coles, JB-Hifi, and Myer.
“Whether it’s converting Bitcoin into Uber credits or Ethereum into an ASOS e-gift card, customers will have greater flexibility and control over how they use their crypto,” a Coinbase spokesperson said in a statement.
“With the launch of e-gift cards, customers have a new option to spend their crypto balances, realizing its value to buy tangible things or experiences.”
The new feature has also been rolled out in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.
