Every Marvel fan knows that the ultimate villain Thanos has already been defeated in Avengers: Endgame. But is he really gone for good?
According to reports, there is still a possibility that the final enemy boss may appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4. Even co-creator Jim Starlin agrees with the speculation.
He said in an interview that he still believes that fans have not seen the last of the humongous purple alien yet.
How will the villain return?
Nothing has been made known yet but Starlin thinks that Thanos may make a cameo in his younger years through the upcoming film The Eternals.
He said that he read it from somewhere and since the adoptive father of Gamora is a popular villain, he thinks that Marvel Studios is just not done with him yet.
He also mentioned about comic book characters having an extended lifespan beyond the actors who play the role.
“I’m half expecting to see much more Thanos down the line.”

What is The Eternals?
The title that Starlin speculated for Thanos to make a cameo is one of the films lined up for MCU’s fourth phase. It’s based on the comic book with the same title and features a group of immortal aliens created by the Celestials.
They have secretly lived in the planet Earth for over 7,000 years already. They will come out of hiding though to fight their evil counterparts, the Deviants, who emerged following the death of the Mad Titan.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had teased previously that the Eternals are aware of the existence and activities of the Avengers.
The possibility of the Mad Titan appearing in the movie is not far off since he is a son of two Eternals who turns out to be gene carriers of their enemy. So now, he is a Eternal-Deviant hybrid.
Should Marvel include the background of the Mad Titan’s family in the film, then it would bring more details about his life. This way fans can know him before becoming the menacing villain in the Avengers installment.
The last two films did not have enough time to explore the story of Thanos further despite having such a rich story line.
The Eternals will be arriving in theaters on Feb. 21, 2021. It was supposed to be released in November this year but it had to be pushed back because of the pandemic.
The cast lineup includes Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, Kumail Nanjiani, Gemma Chan, Don Lee, Salma Hayek and many more.
