President Donald Trump has been receiving a lot of criticisms for failing to flatten the curve in the United States. As COVID-19 continuously hit the country and confirmed cases still pile-up, former U.S. President Barack Obama made a subtle dig at Trump, saying they are still “waiting for a coherent national plan.”
Since the outbreak began, the two-term Democrat uses Twitter to share information about the coronavirus to his 116.3 million followers. However, as this seems to be the opposite of what the current U.S. President does today, he low-key throws shade at Donald Trump, who refuses to admit the failed steps his government does.
The Low-Key Dig At Donald Trump
As of this writing, the U.S. already has nearly 900,000 COVID-19 positive cases and over 50,000 deaths, per Worldometer. Despite that, the Trump administration has yet to release a concrete national plan on how to flatten the curve effectively and begin mass testing.
So, Barack Obama shared an article from New Yorker written by Dr. Jim Yong Kim, titled It’s Not Too Late to Go on Offense Against the Coronavirus. “While we continue to wait for a coherent national plan to navigate this pandemic, states like Massachusetts are beginning to adopt their own public health plans to combat this virus––before it’s too late,” he captioned the post.
In the article, the author and longtime global health leader said that “America’s passivity” is making its way in the country’s history. For Jim Yong Kim, it’s not worth it. So, he sees this as the perfect time for everyone to start the fight, although they are fighting an invisible enemy.
“It’s not too late: we can still mobilize and start hunting down the virus. What’s needed is a decisive investment in a public-health initiative big enough to meet the challenge,” he explained.

Donald Trump’s Move
Although the country has yet to control the spread of the virus effectively, Donald Trump already issued a three-part plan to open the “economy, businesses gradually,” and even to continue socialization, according to Hollywood Life. This might happen though the government has yet to provide the much-needed COVID-19 testing and antibody kits. This lack of supplies makes them unable to begin mass testing.
Some estates will follow the former television personality’s plan, lifting their cities’ lockdown despite the continuous growth of COVID-19 cases. Sadly, many of these confirmed cases remain undetected due to being asymptomatic and there’s a lack of test kits due to a worldwide shortage.
