Barbra Streisand prefers her dogs over her husband, James Brolin, according to a report.
Barbra Streisand and James Brolin have been married for over two decades already. However, one tabloid claimed that she treats her pets better than her spouse.
Barbra Streisand allegedly doesn’t treat her husband well
Barbra Streisand loves her dogs very much that she pampers them. However, giving them too much attention already upset her husband, James Brolin, according to Globe.
The tabloid quoted an unnamed source saying Brolin likes their pets too but with a condition — as long they know their place. However, the Woman in Love singer’s fur babies have the run of the house, and he has taken about all he can.
The report also claimed that Streisand’s love for her dogs is indisputable. In fact, she cloned her dog twice, the report added.
She also allows them to be on her bed. Moreover, she lets them hog the covers and steal his pillow. It ends up with Brolin waking up cranky and shivering.
“It’s true Barbra treats the dogs better than she does James, and she will interrupt whatever he’s saying if she hears one of them whimpering,” the tipster added.
Rumor debunked
Gossip Cop investigated the report and debunked it. The rumor-debunking site questioned how Globe knows what happens in Barbra Streisand and James Brolin’s bedroom.
The outlet also noted how it busted OK! magazine last week for publishing the same story, which was “peculiar.” According to Gossip Cop, there was no legitimate news about the Tell Him singer’s dogs. So, the whole narrative just came out of nowhere and has no concrete proof.
Barbra and James’ relationship over the years
Contrary to reports, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin’s relationship is great. In fact, they are happily married for 22 years.
In an interview with Closer Weekly in 2018, The Amityville Horror actor jokingly shared that the secret of their lasting marriage is trying it with the wrong people twice. He then explained that they make it work by holding on to each other — “once you pick somebody…you’re going to bind yourself in marriage.”
He added that there’s a reason why couples are together, and no matter how bad things are, they should learn to deal with it together. Streisand agreed with what her husband said.
Brolin also believes that counseling can save relationships. He referred to a friend with a very successful marriage who went into marriage counseling six months before they tied the knot. According to him, the woman had a very particular standard, and if the man would not accept what she wants, then he is not the right guy for her.
