Despite rumors of an apparent injury, Lionel Messi is set to return to La Liga. The information was given by none other than the Barcelona head coach, Quique Setien.
On Monday, Messi returns to group practice amid rumors of him injuring his quadriceps. The Argentinian striker appears to be in good shape as the club prepares to resume its season.
Word around the community claims that the superstar striker’s health circulated during the COVID-19 lockdown. On a different note, while on quarantine, many players resorted to individual training since almost all facilities were closed.
Messi’s health status and injury
The Spanish La Liga is set to resume on Thursday after a three-month lockdown because of the coronavirus. Barcelona is scheduled to face Mallorca on Saturday as the club hangs on to its number spot on the table.
In a statement Barcelona coach Setien has this to say:
“He’s doing very well, but we have to avoid putting him at risk. Any [injury] problem makes you miss three to four matches, which would be very damaging.”
Regarding his health, Barcelona’s coach claim that Messi can play for the rest of the season. As the top superstar of the club, he is expected to have a pivotal role in the club’s race to the top.
