With each new day, an unknown fact keeps emerging up regarding Ben Affleck’s now-canceled The Batman. The latest one is about Batgirl.
Did you know that Affleck’s version of The Batman had a plot where Bruce was going to go against Deathstroke, alongside Batgirl? Joe Manganiello recently revealed this fantastic story.
Currently, The Batman film is done with its shooting under Matt Reeves. It stars Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader.
‘Batgirl’ and her key role in Affleck’s ‘The Batman’
While talking on the Phase Zero podcast, Joe Manganiello shared details over the now-canceled film with Ben Affleck.
Manganiello played Deathstroke in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
He said that had it continued; further, The Batman‘s script could’ve seen Batgirl alongside Bruce, going up against him.
“There was like a big huge showdown, I think, between Batgirl…Batgirl jumps in to try and help Bruce because Deathstroke is so fast,” he said.
“He can anticipate Bruce’s movements.”
It sounds exciting and huge. Sadly, though, the movie will never see the light of day.
Things might, however, change if people at Warner Bros. flip their minds, somehow, in the future. Because now they have a streaming service in HBO Max where lots of non-canon projects can be released.
Only if they want to.
Talking about Batgirl, then recent reports suggested that a live-action movie is in the works, which is good news for those who want her to make a debut in the DCEU.
When it comes to The Batman, then the rebooted version will now see Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. It’s already done with its filming under Matt Reeves and is set to arrive in theaters in March 2022.
Future DC projects
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. is working on its revised slate of a new DC-based cinematic universe. And there are some very great titles coming soon in the next few years.
Some of the most-awaited of them is James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, Shazam 2, and The Flash. The latter will be helmed by Andy Muschietti (known for It and its sequel in 2019).
Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will also enter its production phase soon. It will feature the actor portraying the role of the famous DC comic book anti-hero.
Other significant projects to make their debut somewhere in the future are The Trench (an Aquaman spin-off), a Superman reboot (produced by J.J. Abrams), and Batgirl.
Few more possible movies include Deathstroke (untitled), Man of Steel sequel (untitled), Justice League Dark, Supergirl, Blackhawk, and New Gods. The latter is said to be helmed by Ava DuVernay and will see the origin of characters like Darkseid and many more like him.
