Battlefield 2042 post-launch patches have been added to the game that goes live today!
Battlefield 2042 is a multiplayer FPS set in an alternate World War 2 where the Axis and Allies fought for supremacy after Nazi Germany had been defeated. It was met with mixed opinions and many flaws, and so DICE decided to release a patch to help fix it.
What are the new patches all about?
When Battlefield 2042 recently went live, many players were quick to uninstall due to its numerous problems such as poor graphics, bad sound design, wonky gameplay mechanics, poor lighting systems, which made it difficult to see in dark areas.
To help alleviate the pain and suffering of these players and give them a chance to experience an iconic multiplayer FPS, DICE decided to release a patch that they hope will turn 2042 into Battlefield 2142.
The new post-launch patch is fixed with major changes. Some changes include better optimization, new maps, bug fixes, customization options, more weapons, and vehicles. The patch will bring many changes to the game.
The patch notes are listed below for easy reading.
Major Changes:
Many bug fixes to help improve overall gameplay.
Several new maps for multiplayer, including Conquest map called ‘Firestorm’ that is set in Tokyo on Earth in 2042 after it had been destroyed by nuclear devastation during World War 3 also known as the ‘Great War’ of 2039-2040. Tokyo was engulfed by firestorms due to the aftermath of the bombs and was rendered uninhabitable sometime after 2040.
Also included is another Conquest map called ‘Alaska 2042’, which is set in the arctic areas of Alaska in 2042 after America had finally recovered from the Great War. The map is set around an abandoned USO Base where there are military supplies scattered around it to help players survive against other players.
Vehicles added include the Panzer V Panther, Tiger II E, Tiger I E, Panzer IVs, and Panzer IIIs. There are also new versions of the Bradley IFV and Future Tank X-1 that have been remodeled to look much different than their original versions for Battlefield 2042.
Are there new maps added to the game?
Players can also unlock special skins for many of these vehicles by playing the game. The new Panzer V Panther skin will be available to all players who have unlocked the Tiger II E tank. Other skins will be available to players who have unlocked all other vehicles.
New maps will be added in the future, but for now, there are only two maps that are included in the game, while five maps are still yet to be released (4 Conquest maps and 1 Rush map).
Tactical Strike mode has been added to the game, which is a free mode where players use their teammate’s cursor to move it around like an assault rifle and shoot down other players who are trying to capture flags.
