Ben Affleck played the character of Batman in many movies, but he had already ditched the Batsuit. However, some fans still want him for the role.

Ben Affleck returns as Batman in Justice League 2

In the upcoming Justice League 2 by director Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck still plays the Dark Knight role. That’s why he is part of the fan art shared on Instagram.

However, according to ComicBook, the move sparked rumors throughout the weekend that  Affleck will be returning to reprise his role. Many thought he would be filming a new movie as Batman.

However, the poster was referring to an old movie that Affleck already filmed. Also, it is very unlikely for Affleck to film a new one because Robert Pattinson is taking over the role.

The Justice League 2 by Snyder was filmed in 2017 and was referring to his version of the Justice League movie. Originally, Snyder helmed Justice League and almost completed it. However, he pulled out from the project due to personal reasons. Avengers director Joss Whedon took over and scrapped most of Snyder’s work.

Whedon’s version didn’t perform well in the box office. Many still want Snyder’s work following the success of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. His version called the Snyder’s Cut is coming to HBO Max in 2021.

So, yes, Affleck will return as Batman once more for Snyder’s Justice League version. However, he is not filming a new Batman movie.

Director James Gunn also made it clear by denying the speculations that Affleck is taking back the role from Pattinson. Besides, Affleck already admitted that it was his choice to drop the role.

Why did Affleck drop the Batman role

Ben Affleck’s version of the caped superhero is among the well-loved rendition for the superhero character. However, Affleck felt that it was time for him to move on from it.

He admitted that he lost interest in the role. So, he decided to give it up, so someone better could take over.

“‘Would you want to direct and star in a solo Batman movie?’ I found that I had lost my enthusiasm or passion for it,” Affleck explained.

“This should really be made by somebody for whom it’s their wildest dream come true and, for me, it had become something different and it was clear to me that it was time to move on.”

Jennifer Garner’s husband added that he had fond memories after playing the role, especially in Batman v Superman. For Affleck, the experience was fun and energizing.
