Crysis has been one of the benchmarks of graphics-intensive games. Today, several demanding PC games coming soon are set to rival Crysis’ demand for powerful PCs.
Several years ago, the meme “Can it run Crysis?” has been tossed around the internet whenever a new graphics card comes out. Nevertheless, this meme has a basis.
Crysis is a very demanding game that requires expensive video cards to run smoothly. Some demanding PC games coming soon are expected to be the Crysis of this PC game’s generation.
With that being said, here are some of the most demanding PC games available today. These games are not only video card heavy, but budget rigs will also be a definite struggle.
1. Microsoft Flight Simulator

Realistic simulation games are very demanding. Microsoft Flight Simulator is no exception. This flight simulator requires top-tier processors and graphics cards that are worth more than US$1000[AU$1544].
The minimum PC requirements for Microsoft Flight Simulator are minimal. But, for this kind of game, it is a shame to run it at below medium settings.
Just by checking out the trailer, one can see that it takes a lot of power to render all the realistic clouds inside the game. The airplane models are very life-like that it can be mistaken for real-life video footage easily.
Every scenery in the game is rendered separately, which makes it very realistic. At lower resolutions, one cannot enjoy the eye-candy that this game provides. Thus, the need for powerful computers.
2. Metro Exodus

This game was released last year. But it is still a contender when it comes to eye-candy graphics.
Metro Exodus is a very demanding game that budget graphics cards will despise. Even a $2,499 Nvidia Titan RTX will have a challenging time pulling out 100fps for this title.
On the PCGamers test, the Titan RTX dished out 59fps on average in extreme settings in 1080p. This graphic set has a 200% shading rate, texture quality maxed out, shadow details on the extreme.
The Nvidia Hairworks and PhysX with global ray-tracing contributed immensely to the beauty of the game. This comes at the expense of frame rates.
Gameplay-wise, this first-person shooter leans toward the survival horror genre. This makes the game worth playing at the highest settings possible. The extreme details make the game seem like a movie that unfolds in a first-person view.
3. Crysis Remastered

What game can rival Crysis’ success in the gaming world? Another Crysis game, of course.
Crysis Remastered is an overhaul of the famous 2007 game. It is still under development. But, expect graphics settings that are out of this world. It will take advantage of Nvidia’s ray tracing technology to produce excellent visuals.
According to Crytek’s blog post, the upcoming Crysis Remastered will focus on the single-player campaign. The developers will focus on providing high-quality texture and improved assets. Basically, all new technology found on current games will be imported into the new game.
Will this be the resurgence of the “can it run Crysis meme?”
Probably yes, because it is without a doubt a very demanding game. Maybe not, because of CryEngine.
The Crysis Remastered project is developed for all types of gaming rigs—thanks to CryEngine, the developer’s game engine. According to reports, the CryEngine is friendly to entry-level rigs due to improved game scaling.
Crysis Remastered is expected to arrive on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, and the Nintendo Switch soon. All three platforms are expected to run the game smoothly. However, the Nintendo Switch’s video card may not handle the tasks smoothly.
If Crysis was the benchmark game in 2007. Then gamer’s should be aware that among the most demanding PC games available soon, Crysis Remastered might take the top spot once again.
