Halloween is just around the corner, and a lot of gamers are already looking at the best horror games to play during the season. The problem is, there are already many out there to choose from.
The Halloween season is a great time to play some spooky games. Throughout the years, there have been many great titles worthy of being called the ‘scariest.’ Of all of them, we find that these three titles are the best way to spend Halloween.
‘Dead By Daylight’
Of all the games on this list, Dead By Daylight is perhaps the most different of them all. The game is the only one to be a multiplayer experience, but that doesn’t mean it’s scary. It is an isometric horror game that pits survivors against player-controlled enemies called the Killers.
The characters in this game are drawn from various horror franchises, including Left 4 Dead, IT, Saw, and much more. The Killers have various powers to use while the survivors are left defenseless. The goal is to survive and escape the area before the time runs out or before the killer takes out all of the players.
‘Amnesia: The Dark Descent’
Amnesia: The Dark Descent maybe a couple of years old, but that doesn’t mean it’s no longer scary. In fact, this survival horror game that sparked the rise of a new horror genre is still one of the scariest games to date. Unlike horror games before it, players are left defenseless. Players will try to keep their sanity and health meters up while avoiding monsters.
There’s also a sequel titled Amnesia: Rebirth launching this Oct. 20. The gameplay trailer showed off what seems to be a very similar experience but in a completely new setting. Of course, this will be a must-play title when it launches for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
‘Outlast’
Outlast is deeply inspired by Amnesia. Like Amnesia, players will be left defenseless in the three Outlast games. Instead of using a lamp to keep the lights on, Outlast players are tasked with saving camera batteries so that they have something to see in the dark.
These horror games are enough to send a chill down the spine of any player. Of them all, it is Amnesia Rebirth that has everyone talking. Aside from these titles, there are a ton of other modern and classic games to get their hands on.
