Raising MMR in Dota 2 is harder than it sounds, especially if players don’t know the ins and outs of the game. This 2020, things are different when raising MMR, so players should do research even further.
Being stuck in Elo Hell in Dota 2 is pretty common nowadays. Even the best of the best get stuck at certain MMRs. Luckily, we’ve got a few tips for players who are struggling to reach their true MMR in the MOBA.
Learn to adjust
Being a one-trick pony isn’t good for MOBAs or in any other hero-based game. Players will need to learn to adjust to the team’s composition. It’s important to have a hero or two mastered for the various roles in the game. This ensures that players can fill out a missing role if ever they are the last pick on the team.
Always go for the objective
In Dota 2, as well as with other MOBAs, kills are only secondary. The goal of the game is to destroy the team’s main structure at the end of the base. While constantly killing the enemy team heroes ensure that they won’t be able to get stronger, players are still going to have to win the match by destroying the enemy base.
Go with the meta
In MOBAs, metas are heroes or team compositions that have a higher win percentage. That being said, it’s a must for players to follow the meta at all times. The meta is determined by a number of factors, such as the current status of a hero and the heroes with the highest pick and win rates. In this regard, players should do an intensive amount of research first.
Squad up
It’s tough to get a high MMR if players don’t queue up with people they know. For starters, communication will be much harder with people players aren’t familiar with. Moreover, there’s a chance that they can get grouped up with a player that’s going to throw the game or with someone that’s going to go AFK.
MOBAs are about communication and synergy. This means for players to have better chances of winning, they should group up with their friends or players they are already familiar with.
Dota 2 is a tough and grueling MOBA, but if players study the game through and through, raising MMR won’t be that hard. With these tips, players might get out of their own Elo Hell, and eventually, they’ll reach their true MMR.
