THQ Nordic and Experiment 101’s Biomutant game is out now. And with its awaited launch, the reaction of critics has also come out.
The open-world, post-post-apocalyptic video game, Biomutant, seems to be an average mix of good gameplay but a weaker storyline. Simply put, many reviewers are not very impressed.
‘Biomutant’: What are the critics saying?
After getting their hands on the kung-fu inspired RPG title, critics from major outlets have given their consensus.
Firstly speaking about Metacritic, one of the go-to-sites for any launch, Biomutant garnered a Metascore of just 62.
Although it’s not terrible, but not very promising, 35 reviews were counted by the portal to give out the main score at the time of writing.
Speaking of other platforms, then the reactions are not favorable either.
As per IGN’s Luke Reilly, the structure of the actual game is not unique. Because it takes a lot of inspiration from other open-world titles, the objectives and tasks are “overtly recycled.”
IGN gave it a rating of 6 out of 10.
Rock Paper Shotgun’s Alice Bell said that playing it was like “running a cheese grater over my brain.”
The reviewer skipped lots of conversations during the gameplay as they were not of any relevance.
PC Gamer’s James Davenport, in his review, wrote that Biomutant falls short of the expectations.
According to James, “it’s an endless stream of new ideas that go nowhere and beautiful, toxic landscapes with little to offer except an excuse to use photo mode.”
Furthermore, Kotaku’s Zack Zwiezen said that the project by Experiment 101 and THQ Nordic is not stable. And that it suffers a lot during various sequences, despite having a fun combat style as its plus point.
More video games are coming soon!
Meanwhile, many other fresh releases are scheduled to arrive this year, which means that die-gamers will have more options to try out.
But that’s not it!
The vast line-up extends further with Little Devil Inside, Psychonauts 2, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
No More Heroes 3, Cyber Shadow, Shadow Warrior 3, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and Stray are other crucial launches.
Again, coming back to Biomutant is now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S variants will launch at a later date.
