DC’s Birds of Prey, featuring Harley Quinn, has just dropped on theatres. However, the next Harley Quinn film is already in early discussions.
Harley Quinn debuted in Suicide Squad
Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn made its debut on the 2016 film Suicide Squad. The group was based on the DC Comics supervillain team of the same name. It further follows six imprisoned criminals: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, El Diablo, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, and Slipknot.
The movie was set one year after the death of Superman. Because of the hero’s absence, different threats emerged and endangered the lives of humanity. Hence, Amanda Walker decided to assemble Task Force X, which consists of six villains.

Harley Quinn along with the rest of the squad was tasked to execute dangerous black ops missions. Moreover, they were commanded to save the world from a powerful threat in exchange for reduced sentences.
The show has raked millions of viewers. Furthermore, Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn eventually captivated and delighted these audiences. Due to the film and the character’s success, a second Suicide Squad movie was given a green light. Reportedly, the Suicide Squad will return on August 6, 2021, and it will certainly star Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
Harley Quinn appeared in highly-successful Birds of Prey
After Suicide Squad’s imminent success, Harley Quinn appeared once again in another highly-lucrative film, Birds of Prey. The movie saw Harley crossing paths with some of DC’s most beloved female heroines. This includes Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez).
Margot Robbie has pitched the idea of the newly-released film and previously shared how she came up with it. The actress stated,
“There’s so many cool female DC characters and no one knows anything about any of them. Birds of Prey might be the perfect platform to introduce some female characters who might really have some legs in the DC Universe.”

New Harley Quinn movie is reportedly in the talks
It appears that the Harley Quinn hype is not stopping anytime soon. This is because Warner Bros. has begun “early talks” about the next big-screen project for Margot Robbie’s character. Unfortunately, details are scarce regarding what film it could be.
Nevertheless, some DC fans are speculating that the upcoming movie will be based on Gotham City Sirens. This arc centers on three of the most popular female villains inhabiting Gotham City. This includes Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy.
