A Bitcoin and Ethereum miner appears to have discovered a way to reduce his electricity costs by connecting his MacBook to his 2018 Tesla Model 3.
Siraj Raval, the miner, claims he earned $800 during the pinnacle of the cryptocurrency surge early last year.
According to a report by CNBC, Raval linked a set of GPUs to his Tesla’s “frunk.” The car’s enormous battery-operated primarily as a source of electricity, which may help minimize maintenance expenses.
While tampering with Tesla vehicles voids the warranty, Raval tells publications that it was worth it.
PC on wheels
Raval elaborates on his blockchain network’s use of the Tesla automobile, stating, “It’s a computer on wheels.”
It’s ridiculously easy to break into this computerized car, he said. Raval appeared to have linked five graphics cards to his Tesla battery, which enables him to mine Ethereum cryptocurrency using an algorithm.
Additionally, he used an Apple Mac Mini with an M1 chipset and a 12-volt power socket situated in his car’s center console. The inverter has the ability to regulate the voltage.

Raval’s Tesla automobile has a range of about 320 miles per charge and costs about $15 to charge. Raval’s monthly charge expenses are $40.
It may be less than the average person’s monthly electricity cost, especially if you’re mining cryptocurrency. Tesla vehicles, on the other hand, are not inexpensive, with prices ranging from $50,000 to $100,000.
Second-hand GPUs
Raval also saves money on a setup by purchasing used GPUs on eBay.
According to famous Bitcoin miner Alejandro de la Torre, connecting GPUs to vehicle inverters is “no big deal.”
Tesla hacker and crypto-miner Thomas Sohmers, on the other hand, believes the step is needless.
The study also mentions that the revenues from this process are heavily dependent on when the Tesla car was acquired.
Chris Allessi (KmanAuto), a YouTuber and Tesla moderator, claims that if the car was acquired before January 2017, it is eligible for a recharge.
