“The Flash” of Ethereum mining teased!
Bitmain, the Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and cryptocurrency mining rig manufacturer, has released a video teaser revealing a new digital currency mining device that is dedicated to mining Ethereum (ETH).
The device is named Antminer E9 and it aims to be one of the fastest ether miners on the open market today. The rig is not yet for sale and its price has not been revealed yet, but speculative estimates put the new miner’s value at around $20K per unit.
The specs of the Antminer E9 have been released by Bitmain on Twitter while its teaser video was published on YouTube.
The most powerful of them all
Bitmain claims that their Antminer is the most powerful Ethereum miner released. Is their claim justified?
Per the information released by the company cited by news.bitcoin.com, the mining rig has a hash rate of 3 GH/s. Its power is equivalent to 25 Nvidia Geforce RTX 3090s. The machine has a power consumption of 2,556W, but at a rate of $0.12 per kWh, the new miner could get around $250 per day.
In comparison, the A11 Pro of Innosilicon was revealed to get around 2 GH/s. At rates of $0.12 per kWh, the ether miner has a haul of around $152 per day according to current ETH exchange rates.
Waiting for the best
The supposed powerful Ethereum mining machines today have yet to hit the market, and so we’ll have to wait.
The A11 Pro won’t be available until June this year, while the Antminer E9 has no definite launch date yet. Setting aside these new releases that are not yet buyable, the most powerful machines out there today include the Innosilicon A10 Pro+ and Bitmain’s E3 model.
The older-generation Antminer E3, however, only commands around 190 MH/s, resulting in only about $4.37 Ethereum profits.
