Black Clover Season 4 is yet to come to an end, but the talks are now on Black Clover Season 5. As the anime is quickly catching with the manga, how many filler episodes it needs to avoid this from happening?
The fourth season is only on its second episode, so it still has a long way to go before Black Clover Season 5 comes. It is also good to know if the filler arcs will help the anime avoid unwanted break or hiatus if it ever runs out of a manga story to adapt.
Changes in Episode 153 onwards
The coming of the fifth season may still be far away, but fans can be assured of the season’s renewal.
With its success, Black Clover is considered to be one of the Big 3 anime series, along with Boruto and One Piece.
It is one of the most popular anime series on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and FUNimation, per Monsters and Critics. Its English dub has also become one of the biggest sources when it comes to streaming revenue.
Moving forward, when Black Clover Episode 153 drops, there will be some major changes happening to the production staff.
Ayataka Tanemiura replaced director Tatsuya Yoshihara. Tanemiura used to be the series’ assistant director for more than a hundred episodes, from Episode 28 to 152.
The seasons’ filler arcs
Meanwhile, the anime has been featuring filler arcs to avoid catching up with the manga. Studio Pierrot used to adapt the manga with slow pacing so that it could drop new season every year.
Of course, there was also original content to feature to continue the story. However, starting in Episode 158, “The Beginning of Hope and Despair,” it would already be adapted from the manga itself.
This episode would feature the events of Chapter 229. From here, the next episodes would be named after the manga.
This only means that the anime is now returning to adapting the manga canon. Will this continue in Black Clover Season 5?
New theme song artist, cast member
In addition, Black Clover Season 4 will have a new theme song artist and cast member, Anime News Network noted.
The franchise’s official website revealed the boy band group Snow Man would perform the title’s 13th opening song, “Grandeur.”
Another Korean group, Treasure, would also perform its ending theme song, “BEAUTIFUL.”
These new songs would drop in the series on Tuesday, January 5. The site also revealed Rikiya Koyama would join the anime as Dante Zogratis, a Spade Kingdom character who has the ability to control devil power.
As the anime is still on its fourth season, it may still be a long wait before Black Clover Season 5 comes.
