BLACKPINK has returned, smashing several YouTube records following the release of ‘How You Like That.’
K-pop fans and supporters are in total awe after BLACKPINK re-entered the music space. Months after preparing for their new releases, the popular K-pop girl group has now made their “comeback.”
Since their arrival in the K-pop industry in 2018, the group, which mainly features Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa, has become a household name in various parts of the globe. With their most popular hits, ‘Kill This Love’ and ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU,’ it is no longer surprising why almost all people across the globe know the group and its members.
BLACKPINK collaborated with Lady Gaga
Late last month, BLACKPINK released a new single, ‘Sour Candy.’ Lady Gaga collaborated with the K-pop girl group for her Chromatica album.
Reports said that this became the initial step of the group’s “comeback.” This is reportedly after more than a year of leaving its fans with no new track to enjoy.
The group released ‘Kill This Love’ in April 2019, which became their latest single prior to today’s new tracks. Hence, it became a surprise when Lady Gaga dropped her new album featuring a collaboration with the K-pop stars for ‘Sour Candy.’
Following the success of the track, they made headlines since sources reportedly revealed that a comeback would happen in the following weeks.
The group’s comeback through ‘How You Like That’
A week ago, BLACKPINK released several teasers for their new single. Advertisements became a huge treat for “BLINKS,” and other K-pop fans as the members showcased a whole new aesthetic in their appearances and vibe.
This reportedly boosted the overall “hype” for the group’s return to the K-pop scene. This is also the reason why fans immediately embraced ‘How You Like That’ upon its release on June 26, on YouTube.
‘How You Like That’ continues to smash records
With their latest single, BLACKPINK breaks the record on YouTube for the platform’s “biggest video premiere,” according to Forbes. The group’s ‘How You Like That’ reportedly became the “most-viewed” video premiere of all time.
During its premiere, the music video reportedly racked up over 1.65 million views. As stated, they have beaten another K-pop group, BTS’ for its 1.54 million views upon the release of ‘On.’
The K-pop girl group also surpassed BTS’ YouTube record for most viewed video in the first 24 hours of the release, as per Variety. They reportedly amassed over 82.4 million views in 24 hours, topping BTS’ ‘Boy With Luv,’ which obtained over 74.6 million views on the first day of its premiere.
The reports then noted that BLACKPINK currently holds several “superlatives.” These include the platform’s most subscribed-to music group and the first K-pop group to obtain a billion YouTube views. They are also reportedly the female K-pop group that has the highest-grossing tour.
