Here are the details you need to know about BLACKPINK’s upcoming album.
BLACKPINK has continued to surprise their fans and supporters throughout 2020. With their upcoming debut album, BLINKS could not seemingly wait any longer for the consummation of their “comeback.”
BLACKPINK and their three-part comeback
Earlier in May, YG Entertainment confirmed that the all-female K-pop group would have a three-part comeback this year, according to SOOMPI. They fulfilled the first part upon releasing their pre-release title track, How You Like That.

As for the second, this mainly centered on their shocking collaboration with Selena Gomez for Ice Cream. BLACKPINK released the track on August 28 and has since continued to receive praise from fans across the globe.
The culmination of their comeback will happen in the first week of October. As reported, this will target the release of their debut album, The Album.
“BLACKPINK: The Album” release date
On July 28, YG Entertainment teased the fans with a poster of the group’s new and upcoming album. Billboard recalled that it is “self-titled,” BLACKPINK: The Album.
They revealed the cover art, which depicts a “shining pink crown” against a flat black background. Alongside the poster, they also announced the official release date, which will be on October 2.

The tracklist will not include “Sour Candy”
Details of The Album have remained undisclosed. But, BLACKPINK and YG Entertainment confirmed earlier in spring that it will feature a total of 10 tracks, according to Style Caster.
These tracks will include How You Like That and Ice Cream. As for Sour Candy, which is a collaboration with Lady Gaga, it is not part of the K-pop group’s upcoming album since the track belongs to the A Star Is Born‘s actress’s album, Chromatica.
Reports, later on, noted that the first two tracks that the group released are the “foretaste” of what fans can expect from The Album. Many netizens have since speculated that the tracklist will likely include titles that sound “sweet,” like “vanilla.”
They perfected the album amid quarantine
The all-female K-pop group had plans to do a world tour during the summer of 2020. However, the pandemic crisis seemingly hindered them from doing so. But, this did not reportedly stop Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo from utilizing their time in quarantine to perfect and polish the album.
In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Rosé shared that the lockdown measures made them more “focused” on polishing the album. She also noted that it provided them the time to make The Album the “best thing” that the members of BLACKPINK can give to their fans.
