Lisa’s b-side, Money, appears on seven Billboard charts, including number one on the Rap Digital Song Sales Chart.
When even the b-sides chart on Billboard and shatter records, you know the album is a hit. And that’s precisely what’s going on with Lisa’s solo debut.
On September 10, the Blackpink member made her solo debut with her first single album, Lalisa. The title track Lalisa and its instrumental version and the b-side Money and its instrumental version make up the single album.
While title songs and b-sides from cassettes have been phased out in the West, K-pop continues to utilize them as a marketing tactic.
By deciding on a title track, the label concentrates its resources and efforts on marketing that song that will appeal to fans and non-fans.
It receives a music video, which the musicians promote on talk programs, interviews, and music shows. It covers the whole album and attracts new listeners who aren’t ready to commit to an entire album.
Similarly, Lisa’s solo debut’s main tune was Lalisa, while Money is a b-side that has yet to be promoted.
‘Money’ by Lisa hits Billboard
Aside from the fact that Lisa’s agency, YG, hasn’t done a great job of marketing her solo debut album, Lalisa did receive a music video and is the song that fans are most excited about charting on sites like Billboard and iTunes.

While Money has yet to get a performance video, it hasn’t been pushed on music programs or interviews, which only adds to the song’s success on the charts and in interviews.
Fans were surprised to learn on September 22 that Money had topped one of Billboard’s rankings for the week.
Billboard’s Rap Digital Song Sales list presently has the hip-hop b-side Money at #1. According to Forbes magazine, Lisa is the first female K-pop artist to reach #1 on this specific list.
Furthermore, Money is now at #2 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales list. Lisa is the highest-charting K-pop artist ever to reach this position on the chart.
It also charted at #44 on the Billboard Global 200, #24 on the Billboard Global 200 Exc. US List, #8 on the Digital Songs Sales chart, #9 on the Digital Song Sales Chart in Spain, and #14 on the Canadian Digital Song Sales chart.
When and where can you see it?
It is the first b-side by a female K-pop singer to chart in the top ten of Billboard’s Digital Song Sales Chart. Money gave Lalisa a run for its money since it was the most popular song on iTunes in ten nations.
It was also the second most popular song on the iTunes Worldwide Songs Chart. With Lalisa, Lisa became the first K-pop female soloist to reach the top two positions on iTunes Worldwide.
While Lalisa received just a music video, Money will get an exclusive performance video. The performance video will be uploaded on Blackpink’s official YouTube channel on September 23 at 12 a.m. KST (September 22 at 11 a.m. ET).
