BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez released “Ice Cream” on August 28.
BLACKPINK has topped the music charts, once again, with their latest track, “Ice Cream.” It is the second pre-release single from their upcoming album, The Album.
Reports said that the much-awaited collection would drop on October 2. It will also consummate the three-part comeback of the group for this year.
BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s collaboration
For the avid fans and supporters of BLACKPINK, 2020 has become a “sweet treat.” Earlier this year, Lady Gaga released a single off of her album, Chromatica, which features the all-female K-pop group.
The iconic songstress collaborated with Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé for “Sour Candy.” It has since become one of the most well-regarded tracks for this year.
Following the hit collaboration, the K-pop group teased their followers that their new single will feature an international artist. Many speculated that Ariana Grande had played the part. But, it became a surprise when they announced that they worked with Selena Gomez for “Ice Cream.” It turns out that the “7 Rings” singer collaborated with the “squad” behind the scenes as she co-wrote the track, according to Elle.

“Ice Cream” breaks record
Just like their previous tracks, “How You Like That” and “Sour Candy,” BLACKPINK’s newest, “Ice Cream,” has broken music records in the last three days since its premiere. The group has set a new record as the fastest artist to reach 10 million views following the release of the music video, according to SOOMPI.
The publication said that “Ice Cream” had more than 10 million views in less than three hours. Nevertheless, they just beat their record. “How You Like That” held the title after it reached 10 million views in three hours and 40 minutes.
Alongside this, BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez have also reportedly reached more than 100 million views at an “impressive speed.” Based on data, their collaboration only took about 40 hours to achieve the number.
Fans’ “favorite” new collaboration
Billboard reported that they also surpassed several other artists for this week’s list of the most favorite new collaborations. Over 72 percent of the votes went to the K-pop group and the “Hands To Myself” singer.
As it appears, BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez have beaten more than six artists with their collaborations. These include Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith’s “Falling For Your,” Dua Lipa and Gwen Stefani’s “Physical,” and Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Expensive.”
