BLACKPINK has set a new record with their upcoming album.
BLACKPINK is now less than two weeks away from releasing their first album. But while they have not dropped the collection yet, they have already broken a new record, according to SOOMPI.
“The Album” pre-orders are off the charts
Earlier this month, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK is “on track” in setting new heights and making history with their upcoming album, The Album. The company revealed that they have already surpassed 800,000 stock pre-orders in less than a week.
In detailing the orders, South Koreans totaled 530,000 stock pre-orders while the remaining are from the United States and Europe collectively. YG Entertainment added that as soon as the pre-orders began, particularly for the album’s “limited edition” LP, it all sold out “in a split second.”
The pre-orders for the regular album also reportedly had similar trends. The company stated that the number of pre-orders “exceeded” their expected volume. Therefore, they are now working on increasing products.

BLACKPINK released a new teaser poster
BLACKPINK just posted a new “coming soon” poster on various platforms, according to Allkpop. Based on the teaser material, it features the four members of the group, Rosé, Jisoo, Lisa, and Jennie.
It also comes with the exact date and time of the release. As noted, The Album will arrive on October 2, which is much earlier than the previously speculated dates. The publication then added that the tracks would premiere at midnight EST and 1 p.m. KST.
As for the details of the collection, it will include their latest tracks, How You Like That and Ice Cream. Reports recalled that the latter single is the highly-anticipated collaboration that BLACKPINK had with Selena Gomez.
New music video for Ice Cream
BLACKPINK released their latest collaboration material, Ice Cream, later in August. The music video featured the four girls of the K-pop group, as well as the Rare artist.
Despite being in the music video together, Selena Gomez and the K-pop stars were not able to meet personally to produce material. They worked on the collaboration amid the pandemic crisis. Nevertheless, they have repeatedly communicated through video calls.
Following the release of the original music video, they premiered another video featuring a cartoon version of the dance steps, along with the Lose You To Love Me singer. Weeks later, BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez surprised their fans with a lyric video on YouTube, featuring them all singing and dancing through their respective webcams.
