BLACKPINK’s first full-length album, The Album, debuted in the Top 10 of two of the world’s largest music markets, United Kingdom and Germany.
After the release of BLACKPINK’s first full-length album entitled THE ALBUM, featuring the title track Lovesick Girls, the official UK Charts announced that the album ranks number 2 on the albums chart week ending on October 15.
The K-pop all-girl group’s recent feat is the highest-ranking chart that a Korean female group has achieved.
Furthermore, BLACKPINK’s newest album and title track sold over 5,700 cassettes. Previously, BLACKPINK ranked on the album chart at No. 4 for the album Kill This Love in 2019.
BLACKPINK dominating the global music stage
Along with the United Kingdom, the femme fatale dominated the Official Album Charts in Germany.
Considering Germany is one of the world’s biggest music markets, BLACKPINK proves to be competing with BTS in being a world phenomenon. The list also includes the United States, France, and Japan.
On Germany’s Offizielle Deutsche Charts for the album, BLACKPINK held a spot at No.7. The newly released album THE ALBUM broke another record for a female Korean act.

Billboard history
Billboard announced that BLACKPINK’s The Album debuted at No. 2 for the Top 200 Album Chart. BLACKPINK is the first Korean girl group who reached the Billboard 200 in history with the impressive entry.
The Album became the highest-ranking charting since 2018 that was made by Danity Kane. She topped with her album Welcome to the Dollhouse. It is now the highest-ranking made by any female Korean girl group in the span of 14 years.
BLACKPINK’s album got an equivalent of 110,000 albums units sold at the end of October 8. The album scored 81,000 traditional album sales, 26,000 streaming equivalent album, and 2,000 track equivalent album.
It came up with a spectacular 40.3 million on-demand audio streams in the first week of the album since its release.
