Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 is a sequel to the original retro-style game initially released in 2018. Moreover, the trailer teased of the classic Castlevania vibes.
Koji Igarashi, the game’s creator confirmed the sequel during the NGPX showcase on June 23. Igarashi explained that they were happy with the positive reviews from the players. As a result, Inti Creates decided to come up with Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 that will continue the game’s 8-bit aesthetic.
Igarashi said:
“Bloodstained wouldn’t exist without the passion and faith of the many Kickstarter backers who made the game a reality.”
The original game followed the swordsman Zangetsu who hunted down demons for revenge. Other playable characters, Miriam, Alfred, and Gebel accompanied Zangetsu to quest for revenge. Furthermore, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon was similar to Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse released on Nintendo Switch in 1989.

What is the sequel all about
The sequel will continue the quest of the swordsman Zangetsu, but promises an epic new story and new characters. The official website wrote a glimpse of what to expect in the game. It read:
“Players take control of Zangetsu, a swordsman from the far east who bears a deep grudge against demonkind and the alchemists who summoned them. Zangetsu must battle his way to the demonic stronghold, but he doesn’t have to do it alone! Zangetsu can ally himself with a brand new cast of characters he meets along the way and adds them to the playable roster. Each new character adds a variety of gameplay options, abilities, and ways to complete games’ many stages.”
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 will introduce Zangetsu’s new companions. Each character will have his health bar, unique skills, and abilities. The characters include Dominique, the spear-wielding exorcist; Robert, the gun-toating soldier; and Hachi, a Welsh corgi in a mech suit.
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 follows its predecessor’s classic platform
Similar to its predecessor, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 will retain the retro style, having the 2D platform. Because of that, the sequel can be compared to the classic Castlevania games.
