Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will receive the Zangetsu and Randomizer update. Starting on May 7, PS4, Xbox 360, and PC will have the much-awaited add-on.
However, Nintendo Switch users would need to wait late May to early June. Publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay announced the addition of Zangetsu and a Randomizer to the game.
On the company blog, the team showed the new features they are about to add. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night players are expecting fresh playthroughs.
Randomizer update can open more ‘Bloodstained’ playthroughs
Many Metroidvania-style games get fresh gameplay through the addition of updates like characters and Randomizers. Metroidvania games rely on item drops to balance the game as a whole. There are, however, key items that players can get at some point guaranteed.
This part is where a Randomizer comes into play. With the plethora of items available, randomizers add a level of surprise. Key items will come on a random order, which can make the game easier or harder.
Randomizers allow end-game items and skills to come out earlier. It shuffles items, so you never know what you can get. Devs balance these changes so the player can always finish the game.
With Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night , the game uses a default shuffle randomizer. Key items shuffle in order by default. More advanced players can also use the “Anywhere” setting. With this setting, key items combine to the general item pool, which lowers your chances of receiving them.
Bloodstained’s randomizer does not only shuffle items. It also shuffles save and warp rooms, enemy drops, quests, and much more. Because the update is official, players will get the full extent of customizations they want.
Curse of the Moon hero Zangetsu comes to Ritual of the Night
Zangetsu is a new character update for the game, much like Richter in Symphony of the Night. Similarly, players would need to complete the “good ending” first before unlocking the character. The gameplay is vastly different from what they know.
Unlike Miriam, Zangetsu is not a shardbinder. He does not use magic, so the pace is faster and wilder. He is likely an unbalanced extra character, using swift swordplay instead of magic.
Much like the Richter Belmont mode, Zangetsu is a gameplay-only character. Equipment, chests, consumables, crafting, and cutscenes go disabled when playing the demon hunter.
Zangetsu hails as the playable main protagonist of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. The addition of the demon hunter in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will open more play opportunities for avid fans.
