Brad Pitt confessed that he tried to run away and avoid painful feelings after his split from Angelina Jolie.

However, when they got married, their marriage only lasted for two years. The incident was painful to the Ad Astra star.
Brad Pitt avoids painful feelings after split from Angelina
In an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in 2019, Brad Pitt got candid following his separation from Angelina Jolie by discussing pain. He also confessed that he avoided those feelings.
“What I realized is that I was running to avoid tough feelings, painful feelings,” Pitt said.
“I just didn’t know how to deal with them. Anything I found that I used for escape,” Pitt said. “Those kinds of em… those kinds of difficult feelings, I don’t know how better to describe it. It can be anything, drugs, booze, Netflix, snacks. Anything.
However, Pitt soon realized that he no longer wanted to run from anything. Instead, he wanted to feel everything.
“I want to sit in it, I want to feel it, I want to get through the rough night. I found in doing so, you come out the other side with a more profound understanding, of yourself and a greater gratefulness of those in your life. And the birds and the trees and everything else,” he added.
Brad more emotional after separation
In another interview, Brad Pitt confessed that he became more emotional when he parted ways with Angelina Jolie. Before that, he was not a “crier,” but things easily moved him after she filed for divorce.
He had not cried for 20 years. However, lately, he is easily moved by his kids, family, and even news. Pitt took this change as a good sign for him.
Jolie spoke about happy home before split
In 2010, Angelina Jolie spoke about her happy home with her ex-husband Brad Pitt. At the time, they already have six kids.
The Maleficent star recalled an incident when she went home from taping and found her children at home. She realized that they were the most important thing to her and even thought of retiring early from acting.
“Acting helped me as I was growing up. It helped me learn about myself, helped me travel, helped me understand life, express myself, all those wonderful things. So I’m very, very grateful, it’s a fun job. It’s a luxury. Look, I’m at work today in the middle of Venice. But I don’t think I’ll do it much longer,” Jolie said.
“Because I have a happy home. I got back from work last night, and everybody was playing music and dancing, and I suddenly found myself dancing around with a bunch of little fun, crazy people.”
