Brad Pitt revealed in an interview that he didn’t cry for 20 years, but he became more emotional after his split from Angelina Jolie.
Brad Pitt has a happy disposition in life. But he became a “crier” following his separation from his then-wife Angelina Jolie and their six kids. The actor confessed that unlike before, things easily moved him to tears.
Brad Pitt cried after Angelina Jolie split
In an interview for Interview Magazine with fellow actor Anthony Hopkins in 2019, Brad Pitt got candid with his emotional state.
During their conversation, Hopkins told Pitt that “everything moves me, because I’m getting old.” He then asked the Ad Astra actor if he also cries often.
“I am quite famously a not-crier. Is that a term?” Pitt responded.
“I hadn’t cried in, like, 20 years, and now I find myself, at this latter stage, much more moved—moved by my kids, moved by friends, moved by the news. Just moved. I think it’s a good sign. I don’t know where it’s going, but I think it’s a good sign.”
The interview happened three years after Pitt and Jolie announced their split.
Brad and Angelina 2016 split
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shocked the world when they announced their separation two years after their wedding. According to reports, there was an altercation between Pitt and Maddox on the plane while the family was heading back to the U.S.
Pitt and Jolie were reportedly feuding, and Maddox stepped in to appease his parents. However, his involvement allegedly turned into an altercation between him and his dad. After the encounter, Jolie filed for divorce and wanted to have sole custody over their six children.
“But she filed [the papers on Tuesday] in LA Superior Court knowing that it would go public and that he would be made out to be a deadbeat dad — which he isn’t,” one source said.
Meanwhile, Pitt wanted their split to be a private matter.
“He wants this settled out of sight,” the source said of Pitt. “He knows this isn’t fair to the children. He’s saddened that they have to be a part of this [public fight].”
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship has since improved after their separation. Initially, they didn’t speak to each other but are now on speaking terms. Recently, Pitt also visited Jolie’s home to see their kids.
Brangelina before split
Angelina Jolie said that they have a “happy home” six years before her split from Brad Pitt. The Maleficent star was considering early retirement.
Jolie said that she loved acting but might not do it longer. She hinted that she wanted to be with her family.
“I don’t think I’ll do it much longer,” Jolie said before adding, “Because I have a happy home.”
