It took only one apology to pave the way for Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston to begin a close friendship again.
Fifteen years after Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s divorce, they made everyone hopeful of a rekindled romance. The two are now friends again after all the hullabaloos they have been through. But what ignites this close friendship?
The apology that paves the way for their close friendship
The 51-year-old actress was reportedly angered by her former husband’s harsh words about her after their divorce in 2005. Allegedly, Angelina Jolie’s ex said “ungenerous terms” towards her.
According to Mirror Online, the 56-year-old actor talked badly about his ex-wife six years after their divorce. At the time, he already had a romance with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star. Despite being called Hollywood’s “golden couple,” their life, he said, was different.
“I started to get tired of spending my time sitting on the couch, a hand seal, in secret,” he told Parade Magazine. “It was getting pathetic. I think my marriage [to Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it.”
When the interview resurfaced, he released an official statement that paved the way for them to become friends again. Brad Pitt apologized and cleared that he “didn’t mean to say that Jen was boring.”
“Jen is an incredibly generous, loving, and hilarious woman, and she remains my friend,” he said. “I didn’t mean to say that Jen was boring, but that I was getting boring for myself and that I was solely responsible for it.”
Fans then saw them finally reunited at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in February.

A made-up image of a happy marriage by the media
Meanwhile, Good Morning America revealed Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were only set up by their agents in 1998. At the time, their careers were both skyrocketing, and their romance became a hot topic.
They got engaged in 1999, married in 2000, and were eventually called Hollywood’s golden couple. However, their so-called perfect marriage fell apart when Brad Pitt had a relationship with Angelina Jolie.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey after their split, Jennifer Aniston revealed that the media only made the image of their happy marriage. “It is created so totally by the media,” she said, via CheatSheet. “It’s not real. It’s just not real.”
“You’re human beings having a human experience, and there’s nothing different except that you’re exposed to the world as a public person,” she added. “But your personal life, your personal feelings, your heart, your success, your pain, your everything, is the same as anybody else’s.”
