Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow met in 1995 while filming the thriller Se7en. They had a whirlwind romance after being engaged in 1996 but separated a year later.
According to Mirror, Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow had a “toxic split” when they parted ways. Paltrow blamed herself for why her romance with Pitt ended before they had the chance to exchange “I dos.”
In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2000, Paltrow admitted that she lost her identity while dating Pitt.
“I think you have to keep yourself intact in order to have a healthy relationship, and I didn’t,” Paltrow explained.
She also admitted how she loved the time she was with Pitt. However, she also said their relationship was not healthy.
“I loved every second of it, but it wasn’t healthy. I wouldn’t change anything. Even the things I hate most about myself for what happened — the darkest moment of it — I wouldn’t change. Because it’s made me what I am.”
There were different stories about Brad Pitt’s stand on his romance with Gwyneth Paltrow. Some said he was full-speed on it while others claimed he got cold feet.
“I can’t wait, man … Walk down the aisle, wear the ring, kiss the bride. Oh, it’s going to be great,” Pitt said per People.
Pitt was allegedly eager to marry Paltrow. So, he was upset when their wedding was canceled.
However, another source said he had second thoughts about marrying Paltrow. It was Pitt who broke off their engagement.
“Brad called it off. He changed his mind about a month ago. He got caught up in the frenzy of getting married, but he really didn’t want to,” the source said before adding, “he hasn’t had a second to think about what’s going on.”
Another insider supported the claim. According to the second source, Pitt was “commitment-shy” and had to “figure out what he wants.”
According to Mirror, there were rumors that Gwyneth Paltrow cheated on Brad Pitt with her Sliding Doors co-star John Hannah. However, she moved on from Pitt with another man.
Paltrow dated Ben Affleck after the Ad Astra actor. Meanwhile, Pitt struck a romance with Jennifer Aniston. The two got married in 2000 but divorced five years later shortly after he started filming with Angelina Jolie for Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
