Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s kid, Maddox, is about to turn 19 in August. As he is now old enough to choose to whom between her parents he wants to spend time with, is he now okay with his dad?
It has been known that Maddox and Brad Pitt have been, reportedly, estranged from each other after the high-profile Brangelina split. As the 56-year-old actor was, reportedly, gone aggressive toward his son on a private plane, have they mended their relationship four years after?
Brad, Maddox reconciliation
According to the South China Morning Post, the Fight Club actor made an effort to mend his relationship with his son. He even missed out on the recent BAFTA awards to meet his child.
Page Six reported that at the time, the film producer was about to attend the British awards show but had to cancel the last minute due to “family obligation.” Hence, his co-star, Margot Robbie, accepted the award on his behalf for the best supporting actor in the movie One Upon a Time in … Hollywood.
“Maddox gave Brad the chance to talk and he dropped everything,” a source told The Sun. “Maddox has been away at university so when Brad found out he was going to be around and they could have a conversation, he canceled the UK trip.”
When Maddox moved to South Korea to study biochemistry at Yonsei University, the reporters asked if Brad Pitt would visit him.
“I don’t know about that [or] what’s happening,” he said last year. “Well, whatever happens, happens.”
When Angelina Jolie dropped Maddox off at college in August 2019, Brad Pitt was not around. Despite their talk, it has yet to be revealed if they have already patched things up.

I could not be happier about Mad‘s choice of university. It is of course closed at the moment because of the pandemic. But he’s not transferring school, he‘ll be going back as soon as things settle. He’s using the time to focus on his Korean and Russian studies. – #AngelinaJolie#maddoxjoliepitt
The first time Maddox called Brad ‘dad’
Meanwhile, before Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s high-profile split, the latter knew that her former husband would be a good father. She recalled the first time that her son, Maddox, first called the award-winning actor “dad.”
In an interview with Vogue in 2007, unearthed by Mirror Online, the Maleficent star looked back on the time that she adopted Maddox from an orphanage in Cambodia. When the kid managed to adjust to his new life with her and his new dad, she realized that Brad Pitt could be a “wonderful father.”
However, when Maddox was growing up, there were reports that he often had a few conflicts with Brad Pitt. Allegedly, they fought on several occasions. Now that he is about to turn 19, they are said to be repairing their relationship.
