‘Breath of the Wild’ Amiibos see relaunch with upcoming ‘Hyrule Warriors’ game

Share

The champions of Hyrule (Breath of the Wild) are seeing their return to shelves as their Amiibo figures get re-release to coincide the launch of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity on November 20, 2020.

The Four Champions

True to their original design, Daruk, Mipha, Revali, and Urbosa will be making a re-appearance, similar to their 2017 debut. Apart from being collectibles for their high-quality physical print, these Amiibo figures also play role in unlocking digital content to any game. That is, in every game that has Amiibo support, like Bayonetta 2, Kirby Star Allies, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, etc.

While the stuff they bring to the table in Breath of the Wild may be lackluster, still they make for a worthwhile addition to any Amiibo aficionados, unless you find delight in getting a daily supply of materials, foods, and random weapons. Yet, still, a far cry from the novelty of getting the wolf version of Link from the Twilight Princess Amiibo figure.

As of writing, it is not yet known how these collectibles will produce an effect in Age of Calamity. But this is something we will all know directly from Nintendo coming September 26, 2020.

Already heroes in their own right in BOTW, players will finally get to see the comprehensive events in the Great Calamity with the new Hyrule Warriors game. A title set 100 years prior to the events that take place in Breath of the Wild. A period of great peril in Hyrule which sees Princess Zelda preparing a team of defenders to stop an impending doom.

About Age of Calamity

While a tale previously told in the last mainline Zelda title, Age of Calamity, visits every nook and cranny in the fateful encounter against Calamity Ganon. Link’s age-old archnemesis, but taking an altogether fiercer and bigger form.

According to the Zelda team, the development of the game took a close working relationship with Tecmo Koei. That is, to deliver the right product. Quite ostensive in the graphics department, but also in the script and gameplay direction. The two developers’ most hands-on business collaboration yet.

Famed for the musou genre, such as the Dynasty Warriors, Tecmo Koei sees the implementation of the same mechanics in Age of Calamity. That, including the four heroes mentioned, includes a plethora of other playable characters, also, with the signature gameplay of dealing against hordes of enemies.

Prices for each Amiibo figure is subject to future announcement. Stay tuned.
