Britney Spears is not yet free from the conservatorship, and she, reportedly, goes through the same hardships Princess Diana faced.
Backstreet Boys former member AJ McLean recently shared his thoughts about Britney Spears and her conservatorship.
McLean even shared what it was like for him as a young pop star to see someone like Spears suffer.
During his Pretty Messed Up podcast, McLean weighed in on Spears’ current situation as he recalled how he met her.
According to the 43-year-old singer, she first met the pop star when they were living in the same apartment complex. It happened when Spears was working for The Mickey Mouse Club.
“She was the sweetest, sweetest girl,” he said. “I can speak for myself: I was 14 when Backstreet Boys started. As a young person, boy or girl, thrust into this business, it makes your head spin.”
He went on to compare her to Princess Diana who suffered from scrutiny before her death in August 1997.
Per McLean, the Toxic singer faced the level of insanity of issues like what the Princess of Wales faced. He went on to express his sadness to see how things turn this way over the last 13 years.
For what it’s worth, Spears first tasted the conservatorship in 2008.
AJ McLean supports the #FreeBritney movement
In the same appearance, the former boy group member said that he does not agree with the length of conservatorship. Although he only knows Spears’ side, he still thinks that the conservatorship should have ended a long time ago.
“It doesn’t seem fair. I do hope that the resolute is that this poor girl gets her life back. Just to be able to go to the grocery store by yourself. Be able to go get a physical if you’re feeling sick,” he continued.
In the end, he assured everyone that the truth will come out. McLean then offered his “100 million percent” support on the #FreeBritney movement since he agrees with it.
He then asked his viewers to pray for the singer and her family as he does not know what’s going on in the parents’ minds.
McLean’s comment came after Spears personally addressed the issue for the first time to the court. She called the conservatorship abusive that left her traumatized and depressed.
The pop star also revealed how the conservatorship prevented her from getting married and having more kids.
Britney Spears then asked the court to allow her to have her life back before expressing her desire to sue her family.
