BTS awarded double-platinum certification by Gaon Chart

BTS, Kang Daniel, and more are among the new batch of artists who received platinum certifications from the Gaon Chart.

The Korea Music Content Industry Association (KMCIA) has applied a new certification system for song downloads, album sales, and online streaming in 2018.

Once an artist reaches 250,000 sales with their music released dating on or after January 1, 2018, Gaon Chart certifies the album as platinum. Also, a song receives the same certification when it reaches 100 million streams or 2.5 million downloads.

The top notchers for Album Sales

SEVENTEEN’s 2019 mini-album You Made My Dawn had received official double-platinum certification as announced by Gaon Chart on October 8 (Thursday), after selling over 500,000 copies since its release last year.

Meanwhile, MAGENTA, the latest mini-album of Kang Daniel, became certified platinum after its release in August. The album sold over 250,000 copies.

Song Downloads achievers

The singles released by BTS 2018, IDOL, and Fall in Fall, received official platinum certifications in the download category. The feat came after each track surpasses 2.5 million downloads, respectively.

Moreover, the OST of Paul Kim for SBS’ Should We Kiss First, titled Every Day, Every Moment, achieved double platinum certification after racking up over 5 million downloads.

Gaon Chart’s Streaming Category

BTS’ collaboration with Halsey, Boy With Luv, also achieved a double-platinum certification in the streaming category. The milestone comes after the song exceeded 200 million streams.

Meanwhile, Aloha of Jo Jung Suk from the OST of tvN’s Hospital Playlist and Good Day of pH-1, Kid Milli, and Loopy‘s remake, after reaching 100 million streams each, became certified platinum.

This Week’s Gaon Chart Record

As announced on October 8 by Gaon Chart, BTS officially achieved a triple crown for September. This achievement came after sweeping all three digital charts with their latest hit, Dynamite.

The superstars’ English-language single claimed No.1 in September in the charts. The rank covers the overall digital chart, the streaming chart, and the digital download chart.

Meanwhile, debuting at No. 1 for this week’s digital download chart is BLACKPINK‘s new single, Lovesick Girls.
