BTS earns the Grand Prize at the 30th Seoul Music Awards

BTS received a total of six awards and brought home the Daesang (Grand Prize) at the 30th Seoul Music Awards!

On January 31, the 30th Seoul Music Awards was held at the KSPO Dome. Although BTS could not attend the event, artists Girls’ Generation, MCs Shin Dong Yup, and Super Junior’s Kim Heechul graced the music awards!

At the 30th Seoul Music Awards event, BTS took home six awards, including the Daesang (Grand Prize). The other five awards at the event consist of the Best Song Award, Best Album Award, the WhosFandom Award, the K-Wave Award, and a Bonsang (Main Award).

The 29th Seoul Music Awards in 2020 split up the Daesang into two categories. This time, the 30th Seoul Music Awards returned to its original format, giving a single Daesang award. The Best Album Award and Best Song Award were separated.

This year 2021, sets the fourth year in a row that BTS won a Daesang at the Seoul Music Awards as they also won the Album Daesang last year.

BTS did not appear in the event in person but sent their speeches through a video message.

BTS RM said in his speech for Daesang that it is an honor for them to win the Daesang at the 30th Seoul Music Award and are very happy and grateful.

Jin also shared his speech, saying that it felt like they can start this year with overflowing energy and spirit as they receive such a valuable award. He extended his gratitude to their ARMY that they were able to earn such a significant prize.

Moreover, Jungkook followed in his speech, thanking fans for always cheering and showing their love that BTS would not be here if not because of them.

J-Hope also shared his message, saying that because of the unforeseen 2020 pandemic, they could not meet fans in person yet, hoping for the day to come soon they get the chance to be together again when the situation gets better and improve.

Jimin simultaneously expressed his gratitude to the members, their families, and the Big Hit Entertainment staff for working hard that the group could shine on stage. On the other hand, V is hoping that 2021 will be another happy year with BTS and address everyone to stay healthy.

BTS ended up their speech saying a “Happy New Year.”
