BTS Jimin, who recently made waves in the worldwide trending topics for his 26th birthday, now hailed as the winner of this year’s #FandomCup.The Uruguayan entertainment portal, Lo Mas Escuchado, announced the feat of South Korea’s pride.
BTS Jimin garnered more than 50,000 votes combined from Twitter and Instagram. The tallied scores made him emerged as the grand winner for this year’s #FandomCup.
Since the #FandomCup started in 2016, Jimin becomes the first and only South Korean to win the said contest.
Jimin against all odds
This year, 100 internationally-known artists vied for the crown.
Harry Styles remains on the race after winning the previous year. Also, CNCO member Joel Pimentel, Zabdiel De Jesus, and more joined the cup. The worldwide fans were free to vote for the #FandomCup using their Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Jimin vs international stars
The #FandomCup posted its rules on Lo Mas Escuchado‘s website. Two contest was in two stages according to a post on its website.
The artists with the most nominations from the 100 participants are crucial on the stage. The 100 artists who competed in the prelims are the cup’s official candidates.
Starting July 11 until August 1, a worldwide survey was made open and accessible for everyone.
Furthermore, the 32 contestants who got the most votes for the first phase proceeded to the second round while the rest were eliminated.
The preliminaries revealed Jimin outvoted Adexe. The 2018 champion, Joel Pimentel, was also surpassed by Jimin as they went head-to-head for the coveted spot.
Moreover, another battle was succeeded by Jimin from Zabdiel and consequently defeated Christ, which made him move to the semi-final round.
The final competition was a petrifying match against One Direction’s Harry Styles.
The victor
Meanwhile, Lo Mas Eschucado announced on the final round that Jimin and Harry Styles got the most votes in the entire cup battle this year.
BTS Jimin, in the end, managed to eliminate all his rivals through the all-out support of the fans. He is now hailed the King of the 2020 #FandomCup and the first Korean artist to win the roller-coaster match.
