BTS’ Butter has been a long-standing leader on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. However, another BTS song is now in the top spot. This marks the end of an extraordinary summer for K-Pop chart dominance.
Billboard has reported that Michael Jackson is the latest artist to achieve five No. When his hits from Bad topped the Hot 100 for nine months, 1987 to 1988, Michael Jackson was the most recent artist to have five No. 1s.
BTS has broken the world records
Permission to Dance also debuted at No. 1. This week, Permission to Dance debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 charts. Its 15.9 million U.S streams made it the eighth consecutive week that a BTS song has topped the U.S-based chart.
Butter remained at the No. 1 spot for seven weeks, seven weeks after her debut. The June 5 Hot 100 chart ranks songs based on their sales, radio plays, and streams.
This is the fifth single by BTS to reach No. 1. This is the fastest time that a single by BTS has reached No. 1 in just over ten months – the 1980s were the first to do it.
BTS mania is still as strong in South Korea. Even though the group is so well-known in the U.S., Permission to Dance’s official music video received more views in South Korea between July 9-15 than most other most-viewed YouTube videos.

BTS has come a long way
BTS started releasing music in 2013. However, the group’s rise in stardom in the U.S.A has largely come in the last year after they began to focus on songs in English, or at least most of them, like Butter and Permission To Dance.
These songs were written in large parts by Ed Sheeran, an English pop star. Dynamite was their first song in English and debuted at No. 1 on the Sept. 5, 2020, Hot 100 charts. It was the first No. The song was the first No. 1 hit for BTS in America and the first No. 1 for an all-Korean band.
BTS has a strong fan base committed to pushing its music to the top and fighting back against any criticisms.
‘Butter’ remains a record holder
This week, BTS fans switched their focus to Permission To Dance. However, Butter still holds the record for longest streak at No. 1 for a song by a group. The previous record was four weeks Aerosmith’s I don’t Want To Miss A Thing. It remained at the top of Hot 100 in 1998.
