With the remarkable and exemplary deeds of BTS leader RM and Henry in the field of arts, the Arts Council Korea awards them as this year’s Art Patrons.

The Arts Council Korea selected six companies and four individuals as winners. This is for the seven categories of this year’s Art Patrons.

Of course, the ultimate BTS rapper and leader, RM, and the former Super Junior member, Henry, are on the list. The awards highlight the supporters and promoters of the local arts scene.

RM gaining a deeper understanding of art through books

On September 12, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) divulged the BTS leader’s generous acts.

As shared, in celebration of the idol’s birthday, RM made a generous donation of 100 million won (roughly $84,200).

It further stated that RM’s donation is to help towards the reprinting of hard-to-find and out-of-print books related to art.

Elementary, middle, and high schools in 400 places across the country received some of the books. In the museum’s bookstore, the reprinted books were made available for purchase.

Henry on discovering local talents

Henry, through his own content Henry Together in his own YouTube channel, discovers musical prodigies.

The former Super Junior member introduced the YouTube world to some of the most talented young South Korean artists. These artists are those who have been training from an early age.

Furthermore, the singer is also an honorary ambassador of Orchestra of Dream. Venezuela’s youth orchestra movement El Sistema inspired the said orchestra.

Moreover, the honorary director of the Gwangju Museum of Art, Ha Jung Woong, has also been named this year’s Art Patron.

He donated more than 12,000 art pieces to art museums and universities.

Meanwhile, mobile carrier KT is among the six companies awarded. The company sponsors struggling small theaters and runs its own KT Chamber Orchestra.

The company that supports indie musicians suffering from the pandemic, Oriental Brewery, received the award.
