At The Metropolitan Museum in New York, members of BTS joined the First Lady of South Korea in a celebration of Korean artists and their works.
BTS had a very busy Monday, September 20 in the United States, where they are serving as Special Envoys for Future Generations and Culture at the 76th United Nations General Assembly.
BTS initially spoke in the morning session, where they were the fourth speaker of the day, after being welcomed by South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who described them as “the world’s most adored musicians.”
BTS’s first time that all members had spoken in front of global leaders
When BTS was called to the stage, all members of the group gave a joint address at the assembly, marking the first time that all members of BTS had spoken in front of global leaders.
Even though they were overwhelmed by the strong individuals surrounding them, the members maintained their composure. Jungkook, who is now 24 years old, delivered his first-ever UNGA address, which was noted by fans.
RM (Namjoon) was the same age when he first addressed the World Leaders in 2018. The way Jungkook loves and respects his hero and leader, RM, has admirers enthralled by the similarity between Jungkook and his idol.
Melissa Fleming was interviewed by BTS
Members of BTS screened a pre-recorded performance from the UN Headquarters, where BTS performed their latest single, Permission to Dance, on open ground for the first time since its release, after their motivational speech at the UNGA.
Many ARMYs found this song to be extremely meaningful since it expresses optimism for a brighter future in which people may return to their lifestyles before the epidemic.
BTS members joined President Jae-in in an interview with Melissa Fleming, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, where they were asked questions regarding the Sustainable Development Goals after their time at the Assembly.
When asked why the SDGs are essential to BTS as Cultural Envoys, RM explained to Melissa that since today’s youth are the future generation with a life ahead of them, the SDGs would allow them to ensure that future generations grow up in a better environment to become better people.
He further said that since one of the objectives under the SDG was to fight bigotry and hatred, they as the envoys for future generations are allowing the voices of the young for this making their platform the place for people to take shelter in.

“The eyes of the world are on Korean culture, Korean dramas, Korean cinema, and Korean music,” BTS leader and spokesman RM (Kim Namjoon) stated during the multilingual welcome ceremony held on the rooftop garden of the Metropolitan Museum.
However, many outstanding Korean artists have yet to be discovered by the rest of the world.”
RM has expressed his love for art to his fans on numerous occasions, and he recently stated that in their new special envoy role, he and the members of BTS feel “a special sense of pride” in being able to support the work of other Korean artists, and are charged with the mission of “trying to spread Korean culture throughout the world and to everyone around the world.”
