Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War will add a Playstation exclusive Zombies event called Onslaught. The event will be a year-long exclusive for Sony platforms.
Zombie mode in CoD: Black Ops – Cold War is available on all platforms. Even then, Sony opted to try and get a PS exclusive event in the name of Onslaught.
Xbox and PC won’t have Onslaught until next year, November 21, 2021.
Activision promised cross-play for Zombies
Activision tried to push Zombies hard earlier this year. They noted how Cold War would have “a completely new chapter” to Zombies. The studio bragged how it would be a real Cold War tale.
“With Black Ops – Cold War, we’re starting fresh, embarking on a completely different story in our universe,” said lead writer Craig Houston in an interview. “It was our opportunity to elevate the entire Zombies experience.”
Activision notes that they will have new characters, new settings, and even cross-play. While this is true, some of the Zombies experience will stay only on a single platform. It seems Sony is making good on the exclusivity promise, for better or worse.
Today, on the Playstation blog, Sony announced that Onslaught would only be available on the PS4 and PS5. This level of irony is weird, considering Sony is cordoning off a game mode for a year.
“This is Zombies Onslaught, a two-person, fast-paced Zombies experience for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players,” said the blog post.
“Ahead of the game’s November 13 worldwide release, here’s what you can expect in this chaotic and totally unique 2-player co-op Zombies experience with a dedicated rewards system blending the maps of Multiplayer together with the undead masses of Call of Duty’s signature Zombies mode.”
Onslaught is a two-player coop survival mode
Onslaught in Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War is a two-player coop that lets people play in multiplayer maps. The locations will go inside the Dark Aether Orb.

When players kill enough, the orb changes in color and move when the barrier does, the goal is to kill enough until players die, much like Survival maps. Gamers can then get a variety of rewards, experience, and other rewards.
It’s not the newest, most groundbreaking experience in a while. It should be something that players will miss or clamor when it comes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War will come out on November 13. Zombies will come out at the same time, which is a much-awaited game mode for everyone.
