The wait is almost over as Activision will finally reveal the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode.
The zombies really are coming, to Call of Duty, that is. Fans of the franchise had long waited for the return of the beloved zombie mode. And now, their wish is finally coming true because, on Wednesday, Activision will officially reveal Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies, a triumphant return
Treyarch Studios, the developer of Black Ops Cold War, was the one to break the news. The studio took to Twitter to share a promotional image of the new Zombies game mode along with the captions, “A new #Zombies story begins. Watch the official reveal at 10 AM PT Wednesday, Sept. 30th.”

COD fans have long believed that the Zombies mode would return to the game.
This belief was further strengthened by the fact that Treyarch had been the one to first introduce the game mode over a decade ago. Not only that, the game mode had been adapted into all the Black Ops titles.
With Treyarch now leading the project once again, and another Black Ops title at that too, a zombie mode isn’t a matter of if, but rather when.
The Zombies game mode first appeared in Call of Duty: World at War back in 2008. Upon its introduction, it quickly developed a massive following. This led the studio to establish the game mode’s individuality and give it a complete story and its own series of maps.
Because of this, it is highly likely that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies would pave a triumphant return for the game mode.
A new beginning for Zombies
As mentioned, the zombie mode has been present and continuous throughout all the Black Ops series.
But since the continuity of the mode’s story officially ended in Black Ops 4, the game mode will be starting a new. Treyarch’s tweet provides certainty that there will be a new storyline for the beloved game mode.
The uncertainty that follows
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Wars‘ ongoing Alternate Reality Game provided solid clues to the game’s upcoming Zombies mode.
Through the ARG, Pawn Takes Pawn, a gaming website dedicated to unraveling COD: Black Ops Cold War information, had managed to disover three images related to the Zombies game mode.

The first image shows a number of zombies on the ground, all of which seem to be Soviet and Nazi soldiers. The second image depicts a handheld radio-like device which appears to hold some secrets of its own. The last picture shows two zombies running towards a soldier.
These images don’t really provide any concrete information other than the existence of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies. As of late, there had been countless theories as to what the game mode’s story is going to be. Thankfully, people won’t have to speculate any longer when Wednesday arrives.
