Call of Duty: Mobile Season 9 started rolling out this weekend, and Activision has indeed revamped the game, to a point that it looks like a new one.
Activision lived up to the expectation when it repeatedly teased big updates coming on Call of Duty: Mobile Season 9. The changes that came this weekend led to most players readjusting to the new gameplay.
The changes are seen starting with the layout of the game, and even the sound effects on tapping options are different. The design is sleeker—although, there are still too many windows that need exiting out of every after a match.
Weapons and its upgrades
One of the biggest highlights of the Call of Duty: Mobile Season 9 update is the arrival of Gunsmith. However, this new feature doesn’t only give players a variety of attachments but also more reason to grind.
Before the update, level 12 was the maxed upgrade level for weapons. Now, the maximum level is over 50—it differs from one weapon to another. In addition, the Epic weapon XP card (the one labeled in purple that gives 500 points) can no longer help you boost your upgrade as fast as it could before.

Having a hundred unused weapon XP card will likely not guarantee players a maxed level weapon upgrade. This means players will need to work on extra grinding to collect more weapon XP cards.
For example, the DR-H, an assault rifle, would need a total of 4100 XP to max its levels—which is 54. However, using around 20 Epic weapon XP cards will only get players roughly 6 to 7 levels higher.
Upgraded weapons very essential in Battle Royale
Having maxed level weapons will give players a big advantage in Battle Royale when they get it in Airdrop loots. Due to this massive update, securing the Airdrop is much more essential than before.
In the past, it was a race as to who gets the Airdrop first. After it gets looted, it becomes inessential to run after. But in Season 9, the Airdrops are essential for players to get their prepared weapons from their loadout set.
It wouldn’t matter if other players got a hold of it first, as the option to pick up your pre-determined weapons will still be there. What happens now is, those players who got there first will use the ground to their advantage to attack incoming players.

When players pick up random weapons on the ground, it already has attachments, which are usually incomplete—which makes securing the Airdrops more essential.
With that said, players can no longer loot for attachments. It’s somewhat a “what you see is what you get” type of looting.
Updates came early for some, while others received theirs on the day of the official start of Call of Duty: Mobile Season 9 which was on August 16. This season’s title is Conquest, with a theme of World War II.
Activision stuck with giving away four operators for premium Battle Pass members. Meanwhile, the 10v10 MP mode has not arrived yet but is expected mid-August.
