PC players should now rejoice as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will split up. Tomorrow’s patch 1.28 will cut up the game into pieces they want.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare made waves in recent weeks, but not for the better. The game is too big for its own good, totaling up to 230GB upon installation. During the install period, the game even needs as much as 280GB.
Now, Infinity Ward will push update 1.28, which includes a few creature comforts. Among them is the ability to uninstall areas of the game they don’t play at all.
Call of Duty will now break into pieces
The current Call of Duty installation is a whopping 200+GB of software. It likely has many things in it, including 4K skins and assets they want to pre-load the client side. It should also contain many instances of skins to make seeking faster for HDD owners.

Even then, many players are suffering because of the impossible size. Reports even show that the game doesn’t fit anymore on a standard 250GB SSD. In consoles, players can choose what they can install and uninstall.
Now, PC gamers will get an update that will give them uninstall options for the game.

“Tomorrows update will have mode specific uninstall options for PC MW owners,” said Infinity ward production director Paul Haile on Twitter. The 1.28 patch will come tomorrow, October 14, at 2:00 EDT/October 13, 11 PM PDT.
Players can now focus on “Modern Warfare” or “WarZone” only
Patch 1.28 will be great for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players. The installation currently has three modes: single-player, MW multiplayer, and Warzone. Players can pick and choose which ones to keep and focus on.
For players who solely focus on Modern Warfare or Warzone, they can uninstall one or the other. They can also remove the single-player game if they’re done with it too. Removing one of the multiplayer games should at least cut the installation by half.
Warzone players who don’t buy Modern Warfare enjoy a relatively small 130GB install size. The games as a service battle royale model are successful so far. Even then, Infinity War is letting up with how big their install size became.
So far, nobody knows what else will come with patch 1.28. It’s already one of the best patches for PC players, so they will likely not care if nothing else comes with it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare recently started its 6th season. They added two new operators, together with a subway train battle for its players.
