Call of Duty Season 5 patch updates started rolling out as early as 11 p.m. PT on August 4 both for Modern Warfare and for Warzone.
The Call of Duty Season 5 update was supposed to be released on August 5, but Gamespot notes that patch updates for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC started early, most likely due to the heavy update.
For PS4 players, the update weighed in at 33.9 GB, 49.8 GB on Xbox One, and 54.2 GB for PC players who own both the Modern Warfare and Warzone. Meanwhile, The Warzone only PC update got had a download size of 47.4 GB.
Call of Duty Season 5 map changes
While we didn’t get an explosive map change entry like Fortnite, players did see the glass windows on the top of the Acropolis National Arena—or the Verdansk Stadium—break into thousands of pieces, as Call of Duty introduces the gameplay expansion within the Stadium.
For those who don’t want to use the Stadium’s roof as a way of entry, the doors on the sides are open too.
Aside from the Stadium, the train station is no longer a game ornament as it now functions and is open for players to explore and plan possible play tactics. A moving freight train will now be circling around the “southwestern part of Verdansk in a large loop,” and players may use this for their tactical advantage.
For Modern Warfare players, four new multiplayer maps are made available upon launch, which are:
- Livestock
- Petrov Oil Rig
- Suldal Harbor
- Verdansk International Airport
Call of Duty Season 5 playlist
Based on the Season 5 patch notes, here is the list of the updated playlist both for Modern Warfare and Warzone:
Modern Warfare
- Ground War (Adding Verdansk International Airport)
- Blueprint Gunfight
- Search and Destroy Double Down (12v12)
- Face-Off (Livestock)
- Oil Rig and Harbor 24/7
Warzone
- BR Duos
- BR Trios
- BR Quads
- BR Solos Buy Back (previously called BR Solos Stimulus)
- Blood Money Quads
- Mini Royale Trios (Fast-paced Battle Royale in condensed areas of Verdansk)
Infinity Ward just made the Battle Royale mode crazier by lowering the number of players jumping into the Verdansk map and limiting the game time as “only the first and last five minutes of a normal BR game exist.”
