Following a worldwide release on Aug. 28, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions has reached some milestone sales of more than 500,000 copies, all in a span of just one week.
The game was developed by Tamsoft and is published by Bandai Namco.
Unique sports title
Captain Tsubasa: Rise of the Champions is a fantasy sport-title based on the franchise of the same name. Unlike established sports titles of a similar genre, the game is designed to be arcadey with some over-the-top actions, true to the source.
Rise of the Champions features a single player campaign where individuals can choose to experience the events in the manga. Showing all the struggles that the game’s protagonist and teammates encounter along the way and the growth that comes thereof.
Alternatively, the players can also experience the same gameplay mode using a created avatar, adding a unique taste to the game.
Playing through the campaign, players will encounter diverse characters, each of which bearing unique skills. But the main highlight of the storyline is Tsubasa Ozora, who is the prodigy athlete.
Despite playing with a team that has an ace player in it, coursing through the storyline is not always easy. Competing against AI teams in the game is one of the toughest, especially for its genre.
Aside from the offline, single player campaign, the game also offers multiplayer experience with another person online. This convenient feature lets individuals play with their fellow gamers, regardless of where they are in the world. Online matches allow a play experience with up to four other people.
A special announcement
Making the achievement worth the broadcast to the world, Tamsoft and Bandai Namco made a tweet. Not only does the social media post inform everyone of the game’s performance in the market, it also thanked everyone for its success. The invocation comes directly from Producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki who made a video for delivering the thankful message.

In addition, the producer also announces an up and coming update to the game. A patch that will see improvements, particularly in the areas of difficulty, levels, matchmaking, in-game notifications, and game balancing.
Aside from the fixes, the game will also see expansion in contents with the introduction of new features. These additions will include a log-in bonus that grants Captain coins and a shop for selling high-end training items.
PlayStation 4 owners can expect the update to roll out at the end of the month. On the other hand, Steam and Switch owners can anticipate the release of the patch sometime in October.
