Fans think that Carly Rae Jepsen will return with new music this month. It will reportedly be the long-rumored “Dedicated: Side B.”
Carly Rae Jepsen may be preparing a huge surprise for her quarantined fans. Reports say that the Canadian pop star will release “Dedicated: Side B” this month.
Rumors about the record’s impending release intensified this week. This was after Jepsen posted a video on her Instagram to celebrate the first anniversary of “Dedicated.”
In the clip, an assortment of typefaces spelled out the album title before settling on the text “Happy Birthday.” The text eventually fades away to reveal a shining letter “B.”

This will be the second time that Jepsen releases a Side B extended play to a studio album. In 2016, she also released “Emotion Side B” to mark the first anniversary of her third studio effort.
What rumors say about “Dedicated: Side B”
“Dedicated: Side B” will reportedly serve as a supplementary body of work to its predecessor. Even before its official announcement, a few unconfirmed tracklists have already made their way to the Internet.
Based on a report, it looked like the Canadian music star has also liked fan tweets asking about new music. This sent Reddit and Twitter users abuzz as they took that as a confirmation that the EP will be coming.
Critical and commercial reaction to ”Dedicated”
“Dedicated: Side B” will have huge shoes to fill when it drops later this month. Music critics memorably greeted the extended play’s predecessor, “Dedicated,” with praise last year.
After the album’s release, “Dedicated” registered a 79/100 aggregate score on Metacritic. It also received positive notices from critics. Several publications even listed the album in multiple best-of music lists in 2019.
“Dedicated” followed up the massive critical success of “Emotion.” It was the latter album that transformed Jepsen from mainstream music artist to indie-pop darling.
“Call Me Maybe” named one of UK’s top no. 1 songs
In other news, Carly Rae Jepsen earned another major achievement recently. Her song “Call Me Maybe” was named as one of the greatest songs to hit no. 1 in the United Kingdom.
A British publication made a rundown of the best songs that have hit no. 1 in the country’s music charts. In the list, “Call Me Maybe” came at no. 20, referencing its unconventional but organic pathway to ubiquity.
It speaks to persistent snobbishness about mainstream pop that Call Me Maybe is often spoken of today as a novelty record or guilty pleasure, rather than as an enduring classic. But it’s precisely the song’s candy-floss lightness that has sustained its longevity.
Based on reports, Carly Rae Jepsen will release “Dedicated: Side B” on Friday, May 22. She last released a new song in February with the one-off track “Let’s Be Friends.”
