Carnival Row fans will have to continue to wait a little longer for the return of the series for season 2. Until now, it remains to be indefinite.

Carnival Row is a neo-noir fantasy web series on Amazon Prime. It first premiered in August 2019 and is created by Travis Beacham and René Echevarria.

About the series

Set in a Victorian-era style called The Burgue, the original series is starred by Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevigne. Bloom plays the role of Rycroft Philostrate or Philo, who is an Inspector of the Burgue Constabulary.

Meanwhile, Delevigne portrays as Vignette Stonemoss, a fae and Philo’s past lover. She believed him to be dead during a war, and encountering him again only led to complicated feelings.

The main story plot revolves around the fleeing of mythical creatures from their war-torn homeland and finding refuge in the city. It created tension though between the human citizens and the immigrant creatures.

Amid the chaos is the dangerous affair of Philo and Vignette. Also, a series of murders by a monster no one knew about emerged.

Season 2 update

According to Comic Book, Carnival Row is one of the many productions that had to be shut down due to the pandemic.

The first season only had a total of eight episodes. And after binge-watching the show, Amazon Prime subscribers are curious for season 2, especially since it left off with a cliffhanger.

There are no concrete details yet on when exactly the show will return to the streaming platform. The English model spoke with Variety, though, and gave some updates about it.

The Suicide Squad actress had to leave the set of the series in March due to the global health crisis.

She was in Prague at the start of winter for the shooting of season until the virus spread blew up. She flew back home to Los Angeles for the quarantine.

The 27-year old model-actress revealed though that they were able to film six of the eight planned episodes. However, she is not certain when season 2 will be released.

“The second season is going to be so good, but I don’t know when we’re going to finish it,” Delevingne says. “And probably not until the winter, because it has to be cold outside and snowing and miserable.”

It’s also noted that the Czech Republic and Prague have already permitted the resumption of productions since May but with guidelines. But even with the restart of the production, Amazon has still not given any information.

Fans of Carnival Row will just have to stay tuned for updates on season 2.
