Recently speaking to investors post-third-quarter results, CFO Piotr Nielubowicz said that the new game’s pre-orders’ balance seems strong. He emphasized it in terms of digital sales. That is, he didn’t exactly mention a proper figure but expected the digital revenue to be “definitely farther than we had on the Witcher 3, and definitely more than 50%.”
Moreover, he also asserted on plans of CD Projekt. They will only target digital sales in the coming time.
“On Witcher 3, it’s [the] vast majority. And on Witcher 2 and 1, it’s — let’s say 99% of the revenues we generate are digital. So this is the only direction that can be expected in that near and longer-term.”
The release of the upcoming game has become the buzz across social media this year. Everyone interested in gaming is constantly talking about the “AAA” title. Whether positively or negatively, it’s trending for the last few months.
Cyberpunk 2077 is surely going to make many gamers excited with its vast ambitions. On the other hand, however, some individuals are saying they won’t buy it. There are reasons for that too.
Developer CD Projekt Red is consistently teasing various aspects of this huge open-world universe to its fans. Its been seven years now since the first teaser trailer launched in 2013.
This year, being what it is, did affect the development of this awaited game as well. In October, most of the people on social media began to show their hatred towards CDPR. It happened after the latter announced a crunch/overdrive for its team. It meant that the entire people working on the game were asked to work extra hours.
This led to unwanted reactions and backlash on Twitter and other portals. Fans and gamers criticized the makers for missing the release deadline of Nov. 19. However, some game developers in the industry defended CD Projekt Red on the overdrive issue. They said that it’s a normal situation while completing a big “AAA” title. And that many studios do this kind of extra crunch for refining the overall gameplay.
Meanwhile, all this will be forgotten once the actual Cyberpunk 2077 game launches on Dec. 10. Now, the die-hard game lovers are only hoping to get it, without any extra delay.
