CD Projekt Red has something to say about those Cyberpunk 2077 delay rumors. Will CDPR delay the highly-anticipated game again?
If one lists down what people know about Cyberpunk 2077 so far, one thing would definitely stand out. Besides Keanu Reeves, the much-awaited game is also known for its series of delays. As it stands, CD Projekt Red has delayed the game’s release for a total of three times now. And now, rumors claim that a fourth delay is likely.
Cyberpunk 2077 delay, what the rumors say
Just recently, a rumor had circulated online regarding another supposed delay for Cyberpunk 2077. The source of the rumor, a tweet from Twitter user Tiffany Treadmore, doesn’t really say that the game will see another delay. Instead, the Twitter user posted a “what if” question, vaguely implying that another delay could happen.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh…
So, what if #Cyberpunk2077 gets delayed….. Again.
Like what if it doesn't launch this year.Like uh until 2021.
…
Just asking….. #cyberpunk

GameRevolution, who had first reported on this rumor, claims that the Twitter user is reliable. The publication explains that she had accurately predicted a Nintendo Direct date and the E3 2020’s cancellation
While there isn’t a direct implication of a delay, the succeeding posts did hint at possible insider information.
I've heard unhappy things.

This rumor, of course, should be taken with a grain of salt. However, CDPR does have a reputation for consistently delaying Cyberpunk 2077. In fact, fans were already assured of the previously planned November release especially with the game going gold. But apparently, they didn’t expect CDPR to move the release date for a third time to December instead.
CD Projekt Red reaffirms December release
CD Projekt Red is, of course, privy to the rumors circulating online. Ever since the studio first announced the game, Cyberpunk 2077 has had four release dates. Because of this, they can’t really blame the community for believing in these kinds of rumors. CDPR does have a reputation of delaying the game’s release a number of times.
A representative for the company took the time to respond to these rumors and reaffirm the December 10 release date.
“As a rule, we don’t comment on rumors or speculation,” a CDPR representative tells IGN when questioned about the new delay rumors. “But I will confirm we were just taking time to update all of our assets to reflect the new launch date of December 10th.”
The pandemic has hit the world hard and that includes CD Projekt Red. The company had to implement a mandatory crunch (requiring its employees to work overtime) just to meet the deadline.
Cyberpunk 2077 will have nine different versions for the current-gen and next-gen consoles as well as PC. And in order to bring parity to these versions, CDPR had to delay the release date to December 10.
