Celine Dion’s previous interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Ellen Show resurfaced amid new claims about the show, its host, and producers.
In 2007, Ellen DeGeneres interviewed Dion about her new album. But they also talked about the singer’s son’s hair.
“It seems like you’re busy with something because you’re forgetting to cut your son’s hair. Look at him. He is beautiful but look at his hair. When are you going to cut that hair?” DeGeneres said.
Celine Dion fires back at Ellen DeGeneres
The comedian also flashed a photo of the singer’s son before Dion respectfully cut her short.
“Do you have a problem with that?” Dion said before telling DeGeneres that it’s not her job to please everyone.
“Whatever I will do, I won’t please everyone. But something that I can reassure every mother here, the long hair …. Do you know that René-Charles makes his own decisions most of the time? … When he’s ready, I’ll cut it,” the singer added.
Ellen DeGeneres critics sided with Celine Dion
Several critics of DeGeneres slammed her for commenting on the boy’s hair.
“Ellen is such a nasty person, she’s been consistently rude or lukewarm to Celine over the years,” one Dion fan said.
“That was very rude how Ellen was so blunt with the question and was so critical about it,” another person said.
“Seeing everything about Ellen now is making me realize how insensitive and rude she was to many of her guests,” another person wrote.
Dakota Johnson calls out the comedian
Dion isn’t the only celebrity guest who has had an awkward encounter with DeGeneres on the show.
Dakota Johnson also slammed DeGeneres for seemingly saying that the Fifty Shades of Grey star didn’t invite her to her birthday party. Johnson told DeGeneres that she invited her, but she was the one that didn’t come.
DeGeneres then told Johnson that she didn’t receive an invitation before one of her co-executive producers stepped in. Jonathan Norman told DeGeneres that Johnson sent her invitation days before the party.
Throughout the past couple of years, DeGeneres has been receiving a slew of criticisms. But it was only recently that she was dubbed as a mean girl.
Ellen reportedly issued another apology during a conference call
Even though she hasn’t addressed all the criticisms about her and her behavior publicly, she reacted to the rumors during a conference call.
“I’m a multi-layered person, and I try to be the best person I can be and I try to learn from my mistakes. I’m hearing that some people felt that I wasn’t kind or too short with them, or too impatient. I apologize to anybody if I’ve hurt your feelings in any way,” Ellen DeGeneres said.
