At a meeting, sure to be the calm before the budget storm, the Chicago City Council paid an emotional tribute on Wednesday to former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
This homage adds to one of the many honors that Justice garnered from the world.
Paying homage to the Justice
The Council rules stood suspended to allow James and Jane Ginsburg to virtually thank the City Council for their mother’s, Justice Ginsburg, heartfelt tribute.
Wednesday was indeed the calm before the budget storm.
On Oct. 21, Mayor Lori Lightfoot delivers her 2021 budget address and outlines the tax increases and spending cuts needed to erase a $1.2 billion shortfall without Washington’s replacement revenue.
“My mother always told me that if she could have had any other career, and had the talent for it, she would have been a great opera diva. So I am happy to represent the musical side of her, her passions,” James Ginsburg, a Chicago-based music producer, told Aldermen.
Homage by the world
Fiction heroes like Mark Ruffalo to A-listers like Robert Downey Jr. took to their respective Twitter and Instagram handles to pay their condolences and homage.
Even actor Chris Evans shares his most profound, heartfelt tribute with a simple liner, “One of One.” The tweet garnered incredible support of 178.8K population on twitter.
Davis unapologetically expressed his tweet, “No, 2020!!! No! No! Not now! Not this WOMAN!!! Please work your supreme magic, brilliant mind, and courage from Heaven!! Help us down here! Thank you for your service, Queen!! Rest in glorious peace.”
Hugh Jackman also quoted her as “a maverick, who changed the entire world for better.”

The torch-bearer of women’s right
Referred to as the Trailblazer of Judiciary, this lady of Iron had worked extensively to liberate Women’s Right. Over the years, her strong-headedness not only earned her the title of being the “Feminist Icon” of her era but leaves her effort unparalleled till the date.
A US Supreme Court Justice, Ginsburg, was battling cancer at her home for a long time in Washington, when last Friday, she finally took her last breath. At the age of 87, her rule was still as iron-clad as it was a decade ago. Thus the news of her demise took Hollywood and the country by a shock.
Her resilient acts and bold, unapologetic voice and verdicts not only garnered her respect but encouraged the youth to speak out as well.
Youth of Hollywood paid their tributes to the Legendary Justice
Actors like Brie Larson took to Twitter as well, to thank the Late Justice “for her years of service.” She further added, “Thank you, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. We’ll keep pushing our way into all the places we’ve yet to be invited.”
On the other side of America, Indian-American actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas posted a photo of Justice Ginsburg on Instagram. She captioned it with, “Your impact and contribution will never be forgotten by the world. Thank you, RBG. Your legacy lives on. Rest in Peace.”
